[ Web App ] Google Latitude on iPhone
Google Latitude is a service that allows you to keep track ( stalk ) of your friends. Its now available for the iPhone and iPod touch. Unfortunately its not integrated into Google Maps but it has been released as a Web App. I think the idea of having a separate WebApp for this sucks, why not just integrate it in to the existing Google Maps app? WHY????
Since there is no way for Apps to run in the background on iPhone Google Latitude will not provide continuous background location updates. Location is updated every time you fire up the app and then continuously updated while the app is running in the foreground. The Google Latitude web app currently supports iPhone/iPod Touch OS 3.0 or above. For now, it’s available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
To try Google Latitude, type google.com/latitude into your iPhone’s browser. And if you miss the experience of launching the app directly from your home screen, you can add a bookmark to the home screen by opening Latitude in Safari and tapping the + icon > Add to Home Screen > Add.
