MobileMe iDisk App for the iPhone Review

Apple has just released MobileMe iDisk App for iPhone and iPod touch. There were some third party Paid and Lite apps to log in to MobileMe but with this new App from Apple anyone can use it for Free. One can log into MobileMe, see the files on iDisk, view supported file formats jpg, png, word document ,audio/video files, etc, you can also swipe to delete files, send a link to the file to anyone via email. ( the actual file is not embedded which is a good thing , this way you can send large files to anyone ). The files are viewable in landscape or portrait. Just tap the file to access it and use pinch gestures to zoom in and out. And any file you’ve viewed recently doesn’t need to be re-downloaded.
The iDisk app gives you quick access to your files on iDisk, the files you have shared, the files you have recently viewed and public folders of other mobile me users. One of the tab in the app is the shared files tab, this page gives you access to all the files you have shared and you can quickly turn off the sharing when ever you choose. One other nice feature is the ability to add public folders of other mobile me users. You have an option to pick the users from your contacts and this option will show you only users who has a mobile me email id saved in to the contact info. When you send a file via email you get the option to add a password to access and download the file which is a good thing and you also get an option to set an expiry date on the link you have sent, but its limited to 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or a year. There is no option to specify a time of your choice. One other limitation we found with the app is the inability to move files to a new folder and the inability to create new folder.
Overall as a free app I would use it but if it were a paid app I would recommend you guys to stay away from it. I am hoping Apple will add more features to it in the later versions of the app.
